Getting Started with Serverless Monitoring on AWS

Abstract

This course provides a hands-on introduction to monitoring serverless applications using Datadog, with a specific focus on AWS Lambda functions.

You will work with AWS Lambda functions deployed with the Datadog Lambda Extension to gather logs, enhanced metrics, and APM traces asynchronously when the functions execute.

While this course focuses on AWS Lambda and Serverless Framework, the concepts and techniques are broadly applicable to other serverless environments and tools.

Learning Objectives

Upon completing this course, you will be able to:

configure the Datadog Lambda Extension using the plugin for Serverless Framework.
view and analyze serverless function metrics, logs, and distributed traces in Datadog.
analyze serverless function performance between similar functions written in different languages.
identify, examine, and monitor function cold starts to optimize the performance of your serverless applications
