Abstract

Integrate Datadog monitoring into a serverless application running on AWS Lambda. Use the Datadog Serverless view and Application Performance Monitoring (APM) to identify and resolve real performance issues in real time.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to: 

  • Integrate the Datadog Lambda Extension and Datadog Lambda Library into serverless applications to collect data 
  • Analyze function performance using the Datadog Serverless view and Application Performance Monitoring (APM) 
  • Diagnose cold starts and bottlenecks based on collected telemetry 
  • Modify application code to resolve latency and other errors found in Datadog

This course is designed for DevOps and Cloud engineers who manage serverless infrastructure, and for software engineers who write and maintain serverless applications.

Prerequisites

Familiarity with the following topics is beneficial:

  • Basic knowledge of using Datadog 
  • Completion of the Datadog Quick Start course 
  • Completion of the Getting started with APM Metrics and Traces course 
  • Basic software development skills 
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code 
  • Familiarity with AWS (specifically serverless services such as AWS Lambda and Amazon API Gateway)
