Send AWS Logs to Datadog

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

Implement an Amazon Data Firehose delivery stream to forward high-volume logs to Datadog.
Configure the Datadog Lambda Forwarder to ingest Application Load Balancer (ALB) access logs and AWS CloudTrail events into Datadog.
Understand AWS logging ingestion options and choose the appropriate method per service and volume.
Set up ECS, Lambda, and EC2 to stream logs directly to Datadog, bypassing CloudWatch for faster and more efficient ingestion.

Primary Audience

This course is designed for Cloud Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and Site Reliability Engineers responsible for implementing and managing AWS logging infrastructure. It's also suitable for current AWS Log Management customers who want to expand their log ingestion capabilities and cloud security practitioners looking to build foundational knowledge for Datadog Cloud SIEM.

Prerequisites

Familiarity with the following topics will be beneficial:

Basic knowledge of using Datadog
Completed introductory Datadog courses, such as Datadog Quick Start
Understanding of Datadog Log Management basics, such as completing Getting Started with Log Explorer
Experience with fundamental AWS services (such as IAM, EC2, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, CloudTrail)
Familiarity with AWS CloudFormation
Basic command line and configuration file editing skills
