Managing Services with Catalog
Understand Datadog Catalog, part of the Internal Developer Portal (IDP). Create and modify entity metadata with the UI, YAML, the Catalog API, and Terraform.
Datadog Catalog, part of the Internal Developer Portal (IDP), offers a central source of truth about the software entities your organization operates and maintains—including services, systems, and datastores. When monitoring reveals issues with any particular entity, it is often challenging to quickly find needed information such as contact information for the engineers in charge of supporting it, its upstream and downstream dependencies, or any associated logs, performance telemetry, or security insights. Catalog solves this problem by providing an always-available reference for the most important entity-related information, along with a Relationships view and Service Map that visualize how your entities work together.
This beginner-friendly course teaches you how to navigate the different views of Catalog. It also teaches you how to create entity metadata that allows your teams to easily access supplementary resources such as associated runbooks, documentation, contact information, and code repositories.
By the end of this course, you’ll be able to do the following:
This course is designed for developers, DevOps engineers, application owners, and site reliability engineering (SRE) teams who will be using Datadog to support applications or monitor application ownership, performance, and dependency information.
