Getting Started with Integrations

Learning Objectives

Upon completing this course, you’ll be able to do the following:

Explain how default Datadog functionality and data are extended with Integrations.
Search for, install, and disable integrations in Datadog.
Identify and describe the 3 general types of Integrations, and how each is configured in Datadog;
- Agent-based
- Authentication (crawler)-based
- Trace Libraries
Include or exclude resources in Datadog using tags in crawler-based integrations.
Retrieve the Datadog Agent’s current status and associated integrations with the status command.
Manually run specific, individual Datadog Agent checks using the check command.
Locate and review the pre-made metrics and dashboards provided by integrations.

Primary Audience

As part of the Core Concepts learning path, this course is designed for anyone, regardless of specific role, who desires to increase their understanding of Integrations, including:

Frontend developers using integrations to monitor application performance through metrics like page load times, error rates, and user behaviors, often leveraging tools like Real User and/or Synthetic Monitoring.
Backend engineers who leverage integrations to track infrastructure and application health, such as database performance, API call latency, and service dependencies.
Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) who rely on integrations to unify metrics, logs, and traces from diverse systems for real-time monitoring, proactive incident response, and resource optimization.
Security professionals tracking potential threats and anomalies through integrations with tools that monitor access logs, failed login attempts, and privileged access events.

Prerequisites

For the best learning experience, we recommend the following prerequisites:

Familiarity with Datadog Learning Center lab environments, or the Learning Environment course.
Basic understanding of monitoring and observability concepts, or the Introduction to Observability course.
