Abstract

Welcome to the Datadog 101: SRE course, where you’ll take a hands-on tour of Datadog's Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and Network Performance Monitoring (NPM). You'll work through a series of interactive activities that will demonstrate their usefulness to Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) and related DevOps folks.

Learning Objectives

  • Configure APM and explain how to instrument applications
  • Enable NPM and analyze networking data
  • Use these tools to troubleshoot a networking issue

Primary Audience

This beginner-level course is designed primarily for SREs. Anyone with DevOps responsibilities who is new to Datadog will also benefit from this course.

Prerequisites

This course is most suitable for learners who:

  • Understand the concepts of Observability as covered in Introduction to Observability
  • Completed the Datadog Foundation course
  • Are comfortable with a Linux command line shell
  • Are familiar with the infrastructure and systems that power web applications
  • Have basic programming skills in any language
  • Are comfortable editing code in an IDE

In order to complete the course, you will need:
