Important

This content was originally created for a live workshop at Dash 2022 and is made up of a pre-recorded video and an interactive lab. If you want this content to have a permanent home on the Learning Center, please let us know by leaving your feedback after completing the lab.

Abstract

In this workshop, you will learn how to set up Datadog Synthetic and Real User Monitoring (RUM) on your applications. Synthetic Monitoring will provide a safety net for your teams by proactively ensuring that your main user flows and applications are continuously monitored for breaking changes.

With RUM, you can analyze real user traffic to understand performance issues, track user behavior, and isolate the root cause of errors and issues.

You’ll learn how to create a Synthetic browser test with our code-free web recorder, analyze the results within the Synthetic Monitoring UI, and then pivot to RUM to analyze the same context from Synthetic Monitoring alongside the frontend data collected from RUM’s Browser SDK.

Learning Objectives

Attendees will learn how to create API and browser tests, using our code-free web recorder, and analyze test results. Attendees will also learn how to analyze real user monitoring traffic to understand website performance and user analytics.

Primary Audience

This workshop is applicable to all skill levels and geared towards those who have never used RUM or Synthetics. Those interested in application testing and monitoring, frontend development, and website performance will find the most value out of it.
